Dear Gustav Guttenbeil

We are very sorry that you are not allowed to fight. You were taken from Tonga because you are part German. This meant you had to leave your wife and children behind.

You have been in a cold place near Wellington. It is very different to Tonga. I hope you can get some warm clothes.  

I hope you will get to go back to Tonga soon. May it be a safe journey on the ship.

I hope you feel better soon and you miss your brother, sister and mum and dad and my Poppa was born in Tonga and his name is George.
